ABOUT US

Founded in the early 1960’s, Fortrose Pre-School provides early years education through play and fun in a safe and happy environment. Play is children’s work, and our play-based activities which follow the “Curriculum Framework for children 3-5” (as offered in all nursery schools in Scotland), encourage young children to learn, to grow and develop the skill they will need for all that lies ahead.

Fortrose Pre-School is regulated by the Care Commission and HMIe, and works in partnership with Highland Council providing funded places for 3-5 year olds. Children can access both of their early years education in the same setting and many parents value the continuity and security of care this offers.Well established inter-school links ensure a smooth transition to the Primary School of choice.

Fortrose Pre-School is a registered charity; a Company limited by guarantee; a member of the Care and Learning Alliance, employing experienced staff and managed by a committee of parents . We believe at this stage children benefit from as much care and attention as possible. For this reason we are committed to an adult:child ratio of 1:5 (local authority provision is generally based on a 1:10 ratio).
